A drawer holds lots of one item type per slot: 1x1 = 32 stacks, 1x2 = 16 per slot, 2x2 = 8 per slot (half drawers: half). The front shows the item and the count.

Right-click: insert hand stack.
Double right-click: all matching from inventory.
Left-click: 1 item. Sneak-left-click: a stack.
Sneak-right-click (empty hand): upgrades.

Break only with an axe while sneaking — no accidental breaking. Contents stay in the item.
