Getting started

Basics

Energy, cables, machines and how the mods work together.

Energy

Every tech mod has its own unit — and they work together:

ModUnitUsed for
IndustrialCraft 2EUGenerators, cables, machines
Applied Energistics 2AEME network (1 EU = 2 AE, the energy acceptor takes EU)
BuildCraftMJEngines, quarry, refinery
Draconic EvolutionRFEnergy core, fusion
BotaniaManaFlowers make it, spreaders move it
Equivalent ExchangeEMCValue of every item, transmutation

Machines and recipes

Right-click a machine to open it. What it can do is listed on its wiki page under Recipes of this machine; in game /rezepte shows the same. Many machines show their state on the block (on/off, fill level).

Textures and versions

The resource pack loads when you join — please accept it. New clients (1.21.4+) see every model, older ones (1.20–1.21.3) get an adapted pack. Items and blocks work on Bedrock too; a few free-form machines are invisible there but still run.

Handy helpers

Chunk loaders keep 3×3 chunks loaded so quarries and machines keep running. The team ender chest (ender chest + 8 wool) shares an inventory — the top wool row is the colour code. Turn both on as their own mod in the Mods tab.
